Introduction of the air command management and control system security element
The aim of the Air Command and Control Software Based Element is to to improve the command command capabilities of the Latvian National Armed Forces Air Operations. Command and control of military aircraft and their weapons in a single NATO system. The project was launched on 11 December 2014 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the NATO Communications and Information Agency. Along with Latvia, Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Iceland, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia are participating in this project. The Ministry of Defence had the second NATO Security Investment co-financed project. The planned implementation time of the project until 2026.
In 2019, the Voice Communication System was developed and accepted for initial use, which is part of the project of the software element of the unified air command and control system. The final adoption of the voice communications system is planned for 2023.
