Latvia hosts NATO DIANA Board of Directors meeting
Latvia will host the meeting of the Board of Directors of NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) for the first time ever from Tuesday, 14 May until Thursday, 16 May. Meeting will be attended by more than 80 delegates from all NATO member states and several NATO agencies.
Delegates attending the NATO DIANA Board of Directors (BoD) meeting will also visit the 5G defence testbed jointly operated by National Armed Forces of Latvia, US Department of Defence, NATO Allied Command Transformation and Latvijas Mobilais Telefons Ltd (LMT) to take part in several demonstrations.
Board meeting will primarily focus on Accelerator’s future progress and achievements within past 12 months. It will also give board members an opportunity to get a deeper insight into Latvia’s deep tech ecosystem by attending the deep tech conference Deep Tech Atelier.
Latvia joined NATO DIANA in June of 2022. DIANA strives to promote the development of dual-use deep tech solutions by supporting relevant start-ups across NATO member states, and thus facilitates cooperation between innovators, researchers and end users.
NATO DIANA is an innovator-centred programme focused on innovative and transformative technological solutions, such as the artificial intelligence (AI), big data, quantum computing, autonomous vehicles, biotech, innovative materials and space technologies.
As announced by NATO DIANA earlier this year, in March, it intends to operate the network of 23 accelerators and 182 testing centres across 28 allied member states. Such network should significantly stimulate the development of dual-use deep tech solutions by start-ups across the Alliance and deliver vital innovative and transformative technologies.
It has also been announced earlier that Latvian 5G defence testbed, which is located at Camp Ādaži, and the first Latvian accelerator, UniLab Defence, have already become part of the DIANA accelerator programme.
